I actually had to ask my husband about the 144,000. I didn't know that much either.
But he said that there will be a chosen 144,000 that will have the glory of God (be saved). Those people are the quorum of the seventies (general authority) from years and years. It doesn't mean that no one else is saved, its just that those are automatically given that- unless they have been unfaithful. Anyone else can have the same chance, just gotta make good choices.
